Parish Episcopal School of Dallas was founded in 1972 as Parish Day School. Beginning with Pre-K and kindergarten, the school steadily expanded, eventually adding an Upper School and becoming Parish Episcopal School in 2001. Its biggest transformation came a year later, when it acquired the former ExxonMobil research and engineering complex, renovating it into the Midway Campus, which opened to students in 2004.
The Midway Campus has become part of Parish’s core identity. Completed in 1982, the approximately 337,000-square-foot complex was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, the celebrated architectural firm founded by I.M. Pei, originally as a cutting-edge research facility for the oil and gas industry. Its cylindrical tower, expansive central atrium, laboratory wings and distinctive exposed blue piping reflect its original scientific purpose. Repurposing such a significant example of modern corporate architecture as a school gave Parish an unusually distinctive campus—transforming a building created for scientific research and innovation into a place for education, creativity and discovery.
